The Amgen Scholars Program is an intemational program aiming to increase research opportunities for students commited to pursuing careers in sciences. The AmgenScholars Program at Tsinghua is an 8-week facuty-mentored residential summer research program that provides undergraduate students the oportunity to conduclresearch in a lab environment, engage in cuting-edge research experience, and learn more about biotechnology and drug discovery.
The accepted applicants will join a faculty's laboratory and involve in one or morespecifc research projects. Each Scholar will be paired with a faculty member ashis/her mentor. All faculty mentors will be selected from the School ofPharmaceutical Sciences, the School of Life Science and the School of Medicine atTsinghua University. In addition, a postdoc, a technician or a graduate student will beassigned to train and assist the student in the lab. As a member of the lab, the Scholarwill have the opportunity to participate in a series of academic activities, such asweekly lab meetings, group discussions, presentation training, and campus-wideseminars of interests. In addition, other non-academic gatherings will be organized,such as networking events, Chinese and Beijing culture exploration, etc.
Amgen Scholars benefits include a stipend, round-trip air travel toBeijing, paid summer session tuition, housing, and part of mealallowance on campus. Program Manager(PM) will work with Scholars andassist them with all aspects of life on campus outside the lab. PM wil!meet with Scholars regularly to provide necessary support andcoordinate among faculty, lab members, and Scholars. There will be 10 Amgen Scholars enrolled in the program. The 2025Tsinghua Amgen Scholars Program will begin on June 7 and end onAugust 4 (provisional). The application deadline to apply is February 1,2025. Accepted applicants to the program will be notified from March toApril.
2025 application will start on November1, 2024 and end on February 28, 2025, deadline to apply being February28, 2025.
